Breeding seminar in Topoľčianky

On February 25, 2023, after a three-year break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the breeding seminar organized by the National Stud in Topoľčianky was held again. Almost forty private breeders and interested parties from all over Slovakia supported the event with their presence.

The main theme of the seminar was the reproduction and insemination of horses. The meeting was opened by Ing. Emil Kovalčík, PhD., head of stud books and marketing. Those present were welcomed by the director of the National Stud Ing. Michal Horný, PhD., who reported on the state of individual herds of all breeds kept in the stud farm. Ing. Emil Kovalčík, PhD. lectured on legislative, administrative and veterinary conditions. He was replaced by Ing. Marcela Kubíková, head of the IRC Krásny Majer, who informed about the services provided by the Insemination and Reproduction Centre and about management in the insemination of mares.

After the discussion, the event was moved to the historic stables of the stud farm, where breeding stallions of the Hucul horse, Arabian Thoroughbred, Shagya-Arab, Lipizzaner and Slovak Warmblood breeds were presented, which operate in the Insemination and Reproduction Centre in the season of 2023.

The presence of the world-class Hanoverian breeding stallion EMBASSY II (Escudo I, from Sammy JO's mother to Silvio I) aroused considerable interest of the breeding public. In 2012, he was not only the most successful licensed stallion from German breeding, but also one of the most successful jumping horses born in Germany. In the saddle with the successful Hans Dieter Dreher, who was his rider from 2011 until 2019, he recorded a dizzying sports career at the international level of the world jumping sport. Together they won many championships and placements at the 150-160 cm level. Embassy II attracted attention with his toughness, speed, jumping power and ambitious work ethic. Just as he was excellent in sports, he is also excellent in breeding. His descendants have his energetic expression and strong movement in their blood.

During the coming season, fresh insemination doses of demonstrated stallions will also be available for breeders in the private breeding.
