The first foal of 2026 is here

In the early hours of January 15, 2026, we welcomed a foal of the Slovak Warmblood breed, sired by Quinnus II out of the mare Narnia, herself by Alexander der Grosse Z.

Our new foal has been given the breeding name Quinnus II-28 and is already the 9,078th foal born at the National Stud since its founding in 1921. The birth was without complications, and both the foal and his mother Narnia are doing well. We believe that the little one has inherited the potential for a successful show jumping career, just like both of his parents.

Quinnus II is an Oldenburg stallion of a sport type, who began his career with the best jumping score in the 30-day test in Münster-Handorf among 23 participating stallions. This was followed by a sporting career with victories and placings in show jumping competitions (including international ones) up to 150 cm. Quinnus II is a son of the Holstein stallion Quidam's Rubin (by Quidam de Revel), who, despite his short breeding career due to an early death, left a more than remarkable mark in the breeding of jumping horses. On the dam's side, Quinnus also inherits top-quality proven sporting genes, thanks to the stallions Grannus, Weltmeister, and Löwen As. Quinnus II comes from the valuable and proven Trakehner family Masliebchen, from which many other stallions have also emerged.

Narnia is a mare of the Slovak warmblood breed from the stud of the National Stud Farm Topoľčianky. She is the daughter of the outstanding Austrian stallion Alexander der Grosse Z (Alexis Z – Ratina EZ), who was the overall winner of the Austrian sport horse federation championship. Narnia is a compact, elegant mare with a jumping level up to 130 cm under saddle with Kristína Flaková. In show jumping, she has always shown the heart of a fighter and quick legs, which has brought her many victories and placements at the national level.
