The Selection Committee for Horse Breeding of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic (hereinafter “MPRV SR”) carried out the spring evaluation of horses at the National Stud Farm “Topoľčianky” S.E. on 13–14 May 2026. A total of 9 Lipizzaner colts, 46 Lipizzaner broodmares, 6 Shagya Arabian colts, 36 Shagya Arabian broodmares, 6 Hucul colts, 27 Hucul broodmares, 2 Slovak Warmblood colts (Dubliner, Demetrius), 26 Slovak Warmblood broodmares, 3 Thoroughbred mares, 1 Arabian Thoroughbred stallion, 4 Arabian Thoroughbred mares, young horses of all breeds up to 3 years of age, 25 horses in training, 35 sport horses, and 6 racehorses owned by the National Stud Farm “Topoľčianky” S.E. were inspected.

The Committee positively evaluated the preparedness of all facilities and horses for the spring evaluation, as well as the implemented zoo‑hygienic measures (disinfection baths, cleanliness, lime-treated entrances to individual stables and buildings). All breeding facilities and their surroundings were prepared in a dignified manner. The Committee commends the excellent condition, nutrition, and health status of the horses, as well as the hoof trimming and shoeing, overall appearance of the presented horses, and the current reproductive indicators and natality across all herds.

The Committee also positively evaluated this year’s offspring of the imported stallion 122 Shagya XXXIX (Miniszter). It further commends the inclusion of imported warmblood stallions of German breeding, assigned according to a selective mating plan for dressage broodmares (stallion 5050 Demetrius) and show jumping broodmares (stallion 5047 Dubliner).

The Committee approved the following stallions for the autumn performance tests: Gazal X‑16, Shagya XXXV‑4, Siglavy XVIII‑2, and Conversano XIII‑77.

The Committee proposed that in the 2027 breeding season, an unrelated Hucul stallion from the Goral line be included in the breeding program.

The staff of the National Stud Farm “Topoľčianky” S.E. ensured the smooth course of the spring evaluation at a high professional level. The Committee highlights the proper attire of the staff and the professional presentation of the horses, as well as the cleanliness and order in all breeding facilities. The Committee expressed satisfaction with the complete evaluation records submitted, which included current body measurements, reproductive status, proposals for the classification list (e.g., sale), and proposals for horses to enter breeding training.

During the evaluation, a pre-selection of stallions and young mares for breeding training was also carried out.

During the evaluation, horses were proposed for the classification list and for castration.
